Loan accounts, commercial banks (per 1,000 adults)
Loan accounts at commercial banks include loans from banks to individuals, businesses, and others, including home mortgages, consumer loans, business loans, trade loans, student loans, emergency loans, agricultural loans, and the like. Commercial banks are banks with a full banking license. In some countries, the term "universal banks" or other terms may be used. Majority government- and state-owned banks are included in this category to the extent that they perform a broad set of retail banking functions and are regulated and supervised in the same manner as privately owned banks.Source: Consultative Group to Assist the Poor and the World Bank Group’s "Financial Access 2010."
